Born in Brentwood, Essex, Mark started caddying for his father who encouraged him to take up the game at the age of 11.

At the age of 20, Mark won English Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 1984 and turned professional two years later. Mark has twice won in Austria - the Mitsubishi Austrian Open in 1991 and the Hohe Brücke Open in 1994.

His debut season on the Senior Tour was a success with the Englishman storming to victory at the 2014 SSE Scottish Senior Open by five shots at a blustery Fairmont St. Andrews.
